Video Editing on Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer
Video Graphics using After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
DVDs from Encore and DVD Studio Pro
Audio Editing in Premiere, Soundbooth and FCP (and Avid MC.)
Video Formats I’ve met: DVCAM, DV, AVI, QT, Mpeg 1, Mpeg2, Flash, WMV, WMVHD, DVCPro HD (P2), DVCPro HD (QT), HDV, XDCAM, AVCHD, Beta, DigiBeta, HDCAM and VHS (but that was a long time ago.)
Video Encoding (using Adobe Meadia Encoder or FCP Compressor): MPEG-2 (DVD and others,) MPEG-4 (Blu-Ray, H.264), Quicktime, WMV, Flash, AVCHD, XDCAM, and still sequences (til, psd, jpeg, etc., ad infinitum.)
My own System is PC based with Adobe Creative Suite CS4 installed, which includes Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Encore, Soundbooth, Illustrator, Flash and some other stuff I’ve never opened. The CPU is an AMD Dual Core 6000+, so it handles rendering tasks quickly. I have recently updated to 64bit Vista. My SATAII drives can handle DVCProHD (P2) and XDCAM and AVCHD for HD editing and I use new hard drives for each project so the drive becomes the permanent archive.
I do not own decks and prefer to get a hard drive with footage on it; however, I can get a DV/HDV deck cheaply and I know a guy who can capture anything to a hard drive.
